I remember a South Park episode in which Cartman gets HIV because a
transfusion of infected blood.

Of course he is outraged that he god an incurable disease. The fact
that is even more outraging, at least to him, is that almost nobody
acknowledges the seriousness of his illness. They say that caring
about people with HIV is no longer trendy. It’s all about cancer
nowadays. AIDS is more of a 90’s disease.
And it seems that it really is so.

It seems that this is the first case of a HIV infected person has
been cured. Read the article in detail for all the medical mumbo
jumbo.
The thing that is a bit scary is that there is no publicity wrapped
around it. It seems that nobody cares, or (on a bigbrotherish
approach) the media doesn’t want people to know.
Either way, South Park seems to have nailed it again, when saying
it’s more of a 90’s disease. :)
