Have you ever had someone look down on you? Someone who only talks
to you or stands your presence because it’s their job? I’m sure you
have. You don’t have to admit it.
Have you ever considered yourself better than other people? Of
course you did. :) It’s human nature. Did you act like it? Like a
jerk, I mean. If you did, you might just be good enough to get a
cashier job at any big supermarket chain here in the US.
Just to be clear, I’m not talking about all the cashiers. Most of
them are just your average Joe, other are really tring to help you
and make your shoping experience better while other have this
syndrome I’m about to tell you about.
How do you recognize them, the ones with the “better than you”
syndrome ? Well, most of them are Americans, mechanically smile at
everything, seem to have interminable idle conversations with other
Americans about everything and anything just to keep the line as
long as possible. When you finally are the first in line, they will
randomly (and by randomly for example, I mean that they will put
chlorine with bread) throw everything you got in bags, give you a
crosseyed look and thank you for your patience. And of course the
mechanical smile. Sometimes they will “forget” to remove the
antitheft devices on the merchandise you just purchases, sometimes
they will change you for organic oranges when the store has run of
that kind 2 weeks ago. And everything with a big f’n smile on their
face. A smile and an attitude that clearly spells: “this moron
cannot speak english, yet here I am being a slave for him”. Must be
though, growing up thinking that you’ll be great and making it all
the way to the corner supermarket to be a cashier.
I think there should be a Bud Light comercial about this Real
American Heroes, kinda like these one
