Lots of talks and controversy on the long awaited Health Care
Reform. By many people this is regarded as a victory for the
‘American People’, while other see this as a big mistake. The usual
controversy associated with an ‘important’ law is everywhere. It
is, in the end, the American way, right?
It’s funny and at the same time sad. Although Health Care sucked
for a long time until recently (1-2 years ago) nobody was willing
to do something about it. Why? Because most people could afford it.
It was not cheap, but your Average Joe could afford basic care.
After the state of the economy went from bad to worse more and more
people found out that they couldn’t afford it anymore. Hence the
despair. The despair of lots of people. Lots of people who vote. So
there was the acute need for ‘change’. Change that was promised to
them and, if you look at the half full part of the glass, seems
that it has started being delivered. The funny thing is that this
change looks like socialism. The other funny thing is that just
because you’re changing something it doesn’t mean that the new
status quo will be better. Just different.
To me it seems that the way they ‘solved’ the health care issue is
pretty much the same as sticking a patient with high fever into a
freezer to drop its temperature.
Here is a nice song for all those in despair, health-related
despair or not:
